Spanish. Nineteenth-century sepia photograph (numbered 109) of an original painting in the Prado, depicting the staging and audiences at a major auto-de-fe. The view is similar to engravings found in Olmo's 1680 Relacion for the event. Quite faded.

French. There are two copies of the same image, of varying quality, both hand-colored. Both depict a burning on the docks in Lisbon, before a large crowd, at the conclusion of a public auto-de-fe. Only one copy has French text, along with a manuscript note in Dutch; the other may be from a different printer.

Some manuscript owner's notes in English, and a 1831 letter from General Tomás Guido to Sir Woodbine Parish explaining provenance of text; it was looted from the Lima inquisition archives under José de San Martín ca. 1821. Also contains prefatory material, sermon, explanatory essays, table of contents, errata.
