Spanish. Edict lamenting the continued availability of banned books and expressing the new Inquisitor General's desire to improve the situation. Astorga y Cespedes served only a few months in office, and may already have been replaced when this decree was issued. Contains signature at end.

Spanish. Edict banning books, especially those hostile to religious Orders such as the Jesuits. Contains text of public announcement and description of a book burning. Cf. INQ225, INQ227, INQ276, and INQ 555, issued on the same day; also INQ225, INQ227 and INQ264.

Camargo, Juan de; Diego de Arce Reynoso "Nos Don Juan de Camar... Madrid: 1732. Inquisition 324

Spanish. Decree republishing then-Inquisitor General Diego de Arce Reynoso's 1660 edict anulling a constitution of pope Paul V, on the issue of whether religious superiors are responsible for denouncing members of their own Orders. Contains wax seal.
